Why we built this

Search "[expensive product] dupe" and you'll mostly find two kinds of pages: long listicles, and blogs run by the very brands selling the dupes. Both have a reason to tell you everything is a perfect match. We don't.

DupeLuxe has no house brand and sells nothing directly. Instead, we gather every independent signal we can — brand mappings, community clone lists, verified similarity ratings, documented makeup pairings — and turn them into a single, transparent consensus score for each alternative, with the receipts attached.

What "independent" means here

It means our scores are computed from outside evidence, not our opinions or our payouts. We're reader-supported: when you buy through our links we may earn a commission, but that never influences a score or ranking. We're also not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any brand named on this site — brand names are used only to identify the products being compared.

What we've built

DupeLuxe covers four categories — fragrance, makeup, skincare and hair tools — with hundreds of "original → alternatives" pages. For every original product we cross-reference multiple independent sources, score each alternative for how close it really is, verify it's currently available, and attach a live price and a direct link. Where a verified similarity rating exists we use it; where it doesn't, the score reflects how many independent sources agree. The result is the one thing the listicles and brand blogs don't give you: a transparent, consistent, cited answer to "which dupe is actually close?"

How we work

We're transparent that our pages are built with the help of automated tools and large language models, with a strict rule against fabrication: every comparative claim is grounded in cited evidence or the documented profile of the original, and anything we can't stand behind is left out.
